Musculoskeletal Assessment

Pain in the back and lower limbs can occur because of skeletal and musculature mal-alignment. This can occur from inherited conditions (“my father had a bunion [bad back] [bad hip]”) acquired conditions e.g. Parkinson’s or from trauma. Causative factors are then compounded and exacerbated through walking or sports.
Biomechanics is the study of the structure and function of biological systems. In human’s biomechanics refers to how the skeleton and muscles react to internal and external forces and stimuli.

A biomechanical assessment uses traditional engineering sciences such as kinematics to analyse biological systems. During a biomechanical assessment, we use the information gleaned from a medical history, clinical examination and dynamic gait analysis to take a holistic approach to biomechanical medical and clinical applications.

A treatment programme depends on your symptoms and lifestyle and can range from sports strapping or padding to footwear advice or a stretching regime.
Podiatrists are experts in using orthotic therapy to promote recovery and long-term relapse prevention. At Revive Footcare we use a range of prefabricated insoles, Foothealth bespoke orthoses.

A biomechanical assessment lasts an hour. Please bring every day, well-worn footwear and a pair of shorts.

* Gait analysis is the systematic study of human locomotion and takes into account extrinsic and intrinsic factors combined with physical and pathological conditions such as trauma, neurological diseases and musculoskeletal anomalies.
